Greetings everyone! Pull up a chair, by the hearth. Here is a deck that I have been using and enjoying for August and September ranked play seasons. Being a fan of token decks since Lorwyn days on MTG, I decided to create a Hearthstone deck with similar mechanics.
Before we begin, I would like to let you know that I have not reached legend with this deck, yet. The furthest I have reached is rank 4 and rank 1 for August and September seasons respectively. I usually play after work on my leisure time (after doing daddy duties as well). Also, this deck has been killed by the growing number of Patron warrior decks. However, I could say that this would definitely make a comeback after the Warsong Commander nerf. Let's proceed with the deck.
I. Decklist
- Mana Curve
II. Master Plan
This deck plays mid-range aggro. It aims to make calculated trades on opponent creatures and to hopefully win by having and maintaining board presence. Most of the time, making trades on the early game will increase the chances of winning end-game.
In order to win, you must exert continuous board pressure on your opponent. This deck is can also recover quite nicely and quickly after mass removals. However, be careful with over committing to your board. Almost every deck in ranked play pack a couple of mass removals. You never know when the opponent will throw a Consecration or Holy Nova in succession.
III. Mulligan
Coin - Always keep your only one drop (Zombie Chow) and two drops. If you are facing mirror matchup or if you feel that you are facing an aggro deck, it is always good to keep any of the following: Consecration, Aldor Peacekeeper, Truesilver Champion. Choose either one of them and you will be fine on the few early turns.
No Coin - Always try to look for and keep 1 or 2 drop creatures.
IV. Matchups
Going against aggro - This matchup would be in your favor. The deck would not lose steam even if you are constantly making creature trades. The most aggressive matchup would be the face hunter. It would be great to keep Lay on Hands or Antique Healbot on your starting hand. Zombie Chow and Aldor Peacekeeper are also great. If you are against Secret Paladin, it would be great to keep consecration and Aldor Peacekeeper.
Going against mid-range - This is going to be a long matchup. Just make sure to make good creature trades and be mindful of mass wipes and committing too much on your plays.
Going against control - It is a great idea to keep an aggressive hand here. Just keep putting pressure on the opponent to make mass wipes while keeping a hand that could refill your board.

V. Final Thoughts
This is really a straightforward beatdown deck which I love. It is reminiscent of decks which I played in MTG. Remember Spectral Procession? Bitterblossom? I am really nostalgic with those cards. Seeing this deck become competitive in ladder play is really fulfilling. I went from rank 17 to rank 1 last September season only falling with 1 win to become legend.
The only problem I am having this current season are the patron warrior decks. It is somewhat sad to see that deck get killed next week, However, I am really salty about how it wins by punishing players that have board presence and how it also wins even if you are not playing anything. Totally ridiculous.
Well, I just hope the days get better for this deck after the changes. Hope you like this deck and have fun playing it. As always, let me know your thoughts below. Cheers!
